Last year, I got a $300 from PNC Bank for signing up for a checking account and jumping through a few hoops. Tonight, I signed up for a new PNC checking account that offers the same bonus. It’s one of the most underutilized perks in the points world: for many credit card/checking accounts, you can get the same bonus multiple times after a certain period of time has passed.
For the PNC bonus, you can get it again as long as you haven’t had an open checking account with them in the past 12 months. I closed my first PNC account in Feb. 2018 after the bonus hit, so I’m good to go grab it again.
In the world of bank account bonus sign up terms, this one is on the easy side. If you sign up for a Virtual Wallet with Performance Select (whatever the hell that means) account, you get a $300 bonus if you have $5,000 in direct deposits hit you account within 60 days. Or sign up for a Performance Select account and get a $200 bonus if you have $2,000 in direct deposits hit you account within 60 days. Obviously having an employer that makes it easy to constantly switch where your paycheck is deposited to is ideal. You also need to make 10 purchases with the debit card they send you, but this can be done in about 5 mins by buying 10 $1 gift cards on Amazon. Once you complete those things, bonus should hit within 60 days. The close the account and let the one year clock to your next signup begin.
